On 19 October, the Harvard Business School Club of Lebanon hosted "Beirut Port Revival," a conversation with Marwan Naffi, Chairman & CEO of the Port of Beirut, further to an introduction from Hadi Sidani, VP of HBS Club of Lebanon.
Jean-Marc Ingea, President of HBS Club of Lebanon, opened the evening with a welcome note highlighting the importance of the Port of Beirut in Lebanon's economy and reflecting on Mr. Naffi's career.
Moderated by board member and Treasurer, Rodrigue Saab, the discussion went beyond the headlines to the questions that will shape the port's future: • Geography or transformation: is Beirut's location enough, or does revival require rethinking how the port is run? • The regional map: Syria's reopening, the Gulf's re-engagement, and new trade corridors such as IMEC • Execution: governance, building a team under public-sector constraints, and making reform last • Accountability: the indicators against which the port’s progress should be measured.
